Today is a beautiful day. It’s another beautiful day in an endless timeline of joy and loss. Today I’m remembering my brother. I’m reliving his life as I knew it. I’m imagining where life would have led him. I’m seeing the whole man he grew up to be. I’m feeling the love for him that’s always in my heart. Our Gilbert left us ten years ago today but it feels like it was just yesterday.
I love you, Kuya. Every decision I’ve made in life since you moved on was with you in mind. What can I do to make you proud of me? What new experience can I have that we would have shared together? Every single step I’ve taken, you’ve been there with me. As you always were when you were here.
I miss you so much. Mom & Dad miss you so much. I need you to look over all of us still, especially Squish. And make sure to let us hear your laugh once in a while. We’ll make sure to catch it in the wind.
